Speech Language Pathologist

Stacey Keith, M.S., CCC-SL

Stacey, a Speech Language Pathologist, is the founder of Apex Therapy, LLC, and is originally from southern New Hampshire where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from the University of New Hampshire in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Stacey is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists and has her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).

Colleen Perry, M.S., CCC-SLP

Colleen, a Speech Language Pathologist, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of South Carolina in 2008 and a Master of Education in Speech Pathology/Audiology degree from Old Dominion University in 2011.  She has experience working with children with a variety of diagnoses including receptive/expressive language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and Down syndrome.  Colleen has worked with children of all ages in schools, homes, daycares, and outpatient offices.

Megan Jarrell, MCP, CCC-SLP

Megan is a certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with over 20 years of experience. She received a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Master of Speech Pathology from the University of South Carolina. Megan has both pediatric and adult experience in a variety of settings including acute care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilities, private clinics, schools, preschools, and the home.

Karen Suarez, M.S., CCC-SLP

Karen Suarez is a licensed speech-language pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). She obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Karen enjoys working with children of all ages and their families to provide therapy that is functional, personalized, and engaging.  She has been working for over 15 years with children ages 1 to 18 in homes, schools, daycares and clinic settings.  She has experience working with children with language delays, articulation disorders, autism, hearing loss, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and fluency disorders.   Karen has been involved in both the IFSP and IEP process and is happy to help families through those transitions. Karen’s favorite part of being an SLP is playing and interacting with children.

 

Occupational Therapist

Hannah Black, OTR/L

Hannah, an Occupational Therapist, attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she double majored in Psychology and Exercise and Sport Science. Hannah graduated with her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2017. She has experience working in a pediatric outpatient clinic where she provided therapy services in the office, private school setting, daycares, developmental children center, and home visits for children aged 4 months to 18+ years old. She collaborated with a multidisciplinary team for client's plan of care, including PT, SLP, and orthotics. Hannah specializes in the treatment of children with developmental delays, Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, feeding difficulties, fine/visual motor delays, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke at birth, and other complex diagnoses. She is certified in Learning Without Tears and Handwriting Without Tears and has received specialized training in Beckman Oral Motor, SOS Approach to feeding, Sensory Processing Disorder, and positioning/handling for infants and children with severe impairments.

Deborah Daugherty, M.S., CCC-SLP

Deb is a licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist, who graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 2013 with a Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Deb has worked in a variety of settings but most of her experience has been working in public schools with children ages 3 - 22. Deb has experience evaluating and treating children who have Articulation/Speech Sound disorders, Phonological disorders, Language disorders, Social/Pragmatic disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual disabilities, genetic disorders, hearing loss, and Fluency disorders. She has experience working with children from preschool through high school with complex needs. Recently Deb has been doing early intervention and working with families to help their children’s communication skills grow.

Imane Shoulars, M.S., CCC-SLP

Imane’ Shoulars, a licensed clinical Speech-Language Pathologist, received her Bachelors in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) from UNC-Greensboro and went on to receive her Master of Science in CSD from North Carolina Central University. Imane’ has a passion for empowering children with the necessary skills to exercise their rights to self-advocacy. Imane’ believes that every child has a right to confidently utilize their voice to communicate wants, needs, thoughts, and feelings whether that be through verbal communication, sign language, or even AAC devices. Imane’ has experience working with children ages 18 months to 14 years with a variety of diagnoses including: receptive/expressive language disorder, articulation and phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorder, social pragmatic communication disorders, sensory processing disorder, and dyslexia. Imane’ is trained to administer the Barton reading and spelling program geared toward improving literacy skills.

Megan Beasley M.S., CCC-SLP

Megan, a Speech Language Pathologist, holds a Bachelors degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Virginia and a Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Old Dominion University. She has obtained licenses to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in North Carolina and California; as well as the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Megan also recently received an ASHA ACE award for continuing education in the field of speech-language pathology. She has over 10 years of experience and has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, acute care, public school system, and private practice. Megan has experience with articulation disorders, phonological disorders, receptive-expressive language delays/disorders, Autism, early language delays, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and pediatric feeding disorders. Megan prides herself in providing high-quality, evidenced-based therapy, while also building relationships with clients and their families/caregivers.

Grace Goldston, M.S., CF-SLP

Grace is a speech-language pathologist licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina. Before earning her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Appalachian State University, she earned an undergraduate degree in teaching theatre K-12. Grace is a skilled professional who has worked with people of all ages and with a range of diagnoses such as expressive language disorders, receptive language disorders, articulation disorders, Autism, Down Syndrome, Apraxia of Speech, and social/pragmatic disorders. She has a background in a program at Appalachian State University that integrates speech therapy and theatrical-based activities for teenagers and young adults diagnosed with Autism and Down Syndrome.

Melanie Exum, M.S., CF-SLP

Melanie, a Speech-Language Pathologist, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree and a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked with children and adults in schools, clinics, teletherapy, and private practice settings. She is most passionate about working with children and improving their communication in various areas. She has experience evaluating and treating children with a variety of diagnoses including receptive/expressive language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. Melanie believes in an individualized approach and focusing on goals that are functional and meaningful to each client in order to maximize their participation and enjoyment of daily life activities. In her free time, Melanie enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and dancing.
